Police continued to search Wednesday for a 29-year-old man charged in the fatal stabbing of a groom at Arlington International Racecourse, although the suspect may already have fled the area, authorities said.
Simon Vicencio, suspected by police of slaying Gerardo Romero, is charged with first-degree murder. Police have been searching for Vicencio since Sunday, believing that he could be hiding somewhere on the grounds.
But after an intensive three-day search, authorities now believe Vicencio may have fled the track, said Arlington Heights Police Deputy Chief Ronald McClaskey.
Vicencio`s younger brother, Pedro, 24, and Tomas Basilio, 21, who also are charged with first-degree murder and are being held on $1 million bond each, were captured Sunday.
