I am writing in response to the front-page article of Aug. 6, ”Holding out hope for a cure, mom takes cancer-stricken son into hiding.”
The statement regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses is incorrect and very misleading. The article stated that ”Roy is not motivated by a religious belief like Jehovah`s Witnesses or Christian Scientists who advocate prayer healing over medicine.” While I cannot say whether that statement is true regarding Christian Scientists, it certainly is not true regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses.
Jehovah`s Witnesses love life and appreciate good health. Because we adopt the Creator`s view of life, we seek quality medical care. We merely request non-blood management while receiving competent quality medical care. Jehovah`s Witnesses do not and never have advocated prayer healing over medical treatment. While adhering to the Bible`s command to abstain from blood (Acts 15:29), we do accept legal and medically approved alternatives.
