An Elgin man accused of threatening a teenage boy was arrested on two criminal charges Saturday, Elgin police reported Monday.

Daniel T. Palomar, 39, of 401 Lovell St., Elgin, was charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon, according to police. He was arrested Saturday after police allegedly found him sitting in a van in the 200 block of Franklin Street with a .45-caliber revolver and ammunition.

Witnesses told police Palomar had allegedly returned to the neighborhood after trying to punch a 16-year-old Elgin boy during a dispute about 30 minutes earlier.
