Gerber buys Polish firm: Poland`s Ministry of Privatization and Gerber Products Co. said they signed an agreement under which Gerber, based in Fremont, Mich., will acquire 60 percent of Alima S.A., a Poland baby food and juices company, for $11.3 million. Gerber said it also expects to invest in future capital improvements at Alima, which employs about 1,000 people and has 4,500 agricultural suppliers. It is in Rzeszow, in Poland`s principal fruit-growing region.
