Andrew 32, Joliet Central 0-SICA West champion Andrew (9-0, 6-0), ranked sixth in the area, finished the regular season unbeaten for the first time.
John Zilewicz carried 10 times for 71 yards and scored on runs of 2, 21 and 1 yards, all in the first half amid 60 mile-an-hour winds in Tinley Park. ”I thought we played well tonight, considering the weather,” Andrew coach Mike O`Neill said. ”The win should give us some momentum going into the playoffs.”
Andrew held winless Joliet Central to 30 yards of offense.
”Our main purpose tonight was to stay healthy, not get anybody hurt,”
O`Neill said. ”My biggest fear was that we`d get somebody hurt prior to going into the playoffs.”
Eisenhower 18, Bloom Trail 14-Michael Evers caught 31- and 85-yard touchdown passes from Chris Hale and Hale scored on an 18-yard run as cellar- dweller Eisenhower (1-8, 1-5) closed on a high note in the SICA East.
Bolingbrook 27, Lockport 6-Robert Farmer piled up 175 yards on 39 carries and scored once to lead Bolingbrook (5-4, 4-2) in the SICA West finale.
Joliet W. 21, Romeoville 6-Deon Hornsby carried 26 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns in the SICA West. Joliet West finished 5-4, 4-2;
Romeoville 1-8, 1-5.
Bloom 40, Argo 0-Ray Cockerham scored five touchdowns, including a 66-yard run, and his 190 yards rushing gave him 1,030 for the season as Bloom
(4-3, 5-4) rolled in non-conference play. Terrell Pork (9 carries, 88 yards) also scored on a 12-yard run. Argo (0-7, 1-8) gained just 85 yards.
St. Francis de Sales 34, St. Martin de Porres 6-Jason Plibanski ran for 149 yards on 26 carries including a 4-yard touchdown run, and Bob Kujawa (four carries, 82 yards) dashed 54 yards for a touchdown for De Sales (5-4, 2-3 in the Catholic League South).
