The Illinois Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will receive $75,000 from the Illinois Justice Information Authority to expand MADD`s services to victims of drunken drivers in Illinois.

The federal money, with $18,750 in matching funds, will be used for victim advocacy, victim service information and police training.

”This federal grant will enable MADD-Illinois to continue and expand our outreach programs to support and assist victims of drunk-driving crashes,”

said Denise McDonald, state victim services director for MADD.

In 1990 MADD-Illinois helped more than 700 victims of drunken driving and the survivors of people killed by drunken drivers.

The funds come from the Victims of Crime Act, a federal program designed to expand the level of services to crime victims. The program is financed by fines and fees levied against federal criminals.
