Providence believed it was pay-back time when the Celtics entertained St. Martin de Porres Tuesday night in New Lenox. When the dust had cleared, the Celtics had extracted a spine-tingling 67-59 double-overtime victory over St. Martin.

”This was a great win for our kids, especially after we lost to them last year in double overtime in their gym,” said Providence coach Dick Mandella.

Kevin Denson (23 points, seven in the second OT) and Mike Rieves (22 points, 16 rebounds) led Providence (3-2).

Jerry Gee scored 29 points for St. Martin (2-5).

Jerry Hayes hit a three-point shot for St. Martin with 1 second left in regulation to tie the score at 55. In the first OT, Hayes missed a shot at the buzzer.

Bradley-Bourbonnais 60, Bishop McNamara 37-No. 10 Bradley used a third-quarter spurt to deck McNamara as Chris Gandy scored nine of his game-high 23 in the quarter. Leading only 24-23 at the half, the Boilermakers (5-0)

exploded for a 23-6 advantage in the third quarter.

South Shore 70, Near North 57-Ronald Coleman scored six of his 26 points in the third quarter when South Shore (4-2) outscored Near North 19-7 to overcome a 42-34 halftime deficit. Terrance Young had 26 points for Near North.

Julian 71, Crane 41-Ken Rogers finished with 23 points and Tom Newton 12 as Julian (4-1) built a 35-24 halftime lead and coasted past Crane (0-4).

Phillips 80, Argo 73-Phillips (5-1) had four players in double figures led by Victor Phillips (30 points). Tyrone Montgomery had 21 for Argo (1-5).

Shepard 64, Eisenhower 49-Tom Budds dropped in 22 points as Shepard improved to 6-1. Chris Hale had 15 for Eisenhower (3-4).

Homewood-Flossmoor 57, Oak Forest 43-Michael King finished with 25 points as Homewood-Flossmoor (4-1) outscored Oak Forest 17-6 in the third quarter to break a 23-23 halftime deadlock. Chris Carlson had 16 for Oak Forest (0-6).

Brother Rice 74, Oak Lawn 60-With Jim Sexton, Russ Lipinski, Shawn Jacob and Brett Booker all scoring in double figures, Brother Rice (4-2) trounced Oak Lawn. Sexton had 15 points, Lipinski and Jacob 13 apiece and Booker 11. Tim Jendrzejak had 18 for Oak Lawn (0-6).

Crete-Monee 66, Bremen 52-Crete-Monee (4-2) zipped past Bremen behind Robert Layton (18 points) and Brian McCoy (17).

T.F. South 84, Munster (Ind.) 53-J.D. Sealy (28 points) and Milan Hayden

(20) ignited Thornton Fractional South.
