Chicago police on Sunday were investigating the strangulation of a 27-year Board of Education employee and mother of 15, whose body was found in her West Side apartment by a family member.
Tommie Lee Walker, 63, was discovered with a cord wrapped around her neck Saturday in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue.
Police said robbery was the apparent motive. Walker`s daughter Yvonne Hasell, 28, said a television set, videocassette recorder, clothing and some cash were missing from her mother`s apartment.
Hasell said Walker worked for the last six years at Piccolo Elementary School, 1040 N. Keeler Ave.
