Village trustees have endorsed a bid for Schaumburg to host the Personal Rapid Transit System, or PRT.
Schaumburg is one of four finalists, including Lisle, Deerfield and Rosemont, for the highly-sought experimental transportation project from the Regional Transportation Authority. The system is intended to whisk riders in private pod-shaped cars along an elevated track.
Mullins said she does not envision a PRT running through Palatine but hopes that a station could be located on the outskirts of the village that would connect with Woodfield Mall.
