The new Civic Stages spring dance program makes for a crowded line-up:
Ballet Chicago will perform Feb. 13-15 at the Civic Theatre, its first downtown outing in more than a year, enabling it to show off relatively new works by David Parsons, Gordon Peirce Schmidt and Daniel Duell.
There`s also Pilobolus Feb. 19-23 at the Civic Theatre, the Magnificent Mazowsze Feb. 26-March 1 at the Auditorium Theatre and the Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre March 11-14 at the Civic Opera House.
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane & Company March 11-14 engagement at the Civic Theatre will be highlighted by that company`s ”Last Supper at Uncle Tom`s Cabin/The Promised Land.” American Ballet Theatre checks in with its annual engagement March 17-29, featuring a new version of ”Peter and the Wolf,” at the Opera House.
The Hubbard Street Dance Company comes April 1-12 to the Opera House and the Joffrey Ballet performs April 29-May 3 at the Auditorium.
At the Dance Center of Columbia College, the line-up calls for Nucleodanza, an Argentina-based contemporary dance company, Feb. 27-29; Jan Erkert & Dancers March 5-7, with an early preview Feb. 6 and 18; Mordine and Company Dance Theatre May 14-16 and 21-23; and the Sock Monkeys June 25-27.
Also, Margaret Jenkins Dance Company will come in for a two-week residency in March, performing at the Harold Washington Library Theatre and the Dance Center. Trisha Brown Company will dance April 24 and 25 at the Harold Washington Library Theatre.
