It seemed fitting that Proviso West coach Lowell Lucas reached a personal milestone Friday night against York, a team he hasn`t lost to since February 1982.
Proviso West (12-2, 4-0) beat the Dukes 69-43 in a West Suburban Silver matchup that earned Lucas his 400th career win at the Hillside school and kept the Panthers atop the conference. Lucas, in his 22nd season at Proviso West, has 562 victories overall.
”We created a lot of turnovers early, and that helped us get into our up-tempo game,” Lucas said.
