Painted and photographic depictions of the domestic life of two artists will be on display in an exhibit called ”Housework,” opening Sunday at the Fine Arts Gallery of Loyola University.

The artists, painter Susan Gofstein and photographer Bill O`Donnell, are part-time Loyola faculty members who live together. Their work examines their domestic situation, in which their living room often has been transformed into a painting studio, and their bedroom into a darkroom.

”We have used the same rooms as settings and the same furniture, dishes, clothing or bits of decor as subject matter,” said Gofstein, whose paintings often appear as background in O`Donnell`s photographs.

The domestic setting inspired their work because it reflects their relationship, Gofstein said.

There is an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The gallery, located in the Edward Crown Center for the Humanities, 6525 N. Sheridan Rd., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free. 312-508-2820.
