The Algonquin Village Board has approved hiring Andrew Halik as the village`s building commissioner and zoning enforcement officer.
Halik, the building and zoning officer of the city of McHenry, will replace William George, who resigned in November after a 60-day suspension for conduct unbecoming a public servant.
Halik will receive an annual salary of $44,612.
