On Jan. 20, there was an article in your paper about the Wannsee Villa as a Memorial Museum. It was at this villa 50 years ago that the genocide of 6 million Jews was planned.
There was no country in the world that would accept these refugees. After World War II, Israel was established to provide a homeland for the Jewish people.
On the other hand, your editorial on the same day demands that Israel no longer be a place of refuge. It is irreconcilable that one can equate humanitarian needs with political maneuvers. The loan guarantee requires no taxpayer money and must not be linked to the peace process.
We must not forget the lesson of 50 years ago!
