Occupation: Actor.
Birthday: Jan. 24, 1948.
Birthplace: Sussex, England.
Current home: Hollywood.
Marital status: Separated from Pamela DesBarres.
Children: Nicholas, 13.
Car: A gray 1990 Toyota Celica GTS.
Working on: I`m on three TV shows: I play the horrible Murdoch on
”MacGyver. I`m Martin Mull`s lover on ”Roseanne. And I play the morning deejay on ”WKRP in Cincinnati.” I also do voice-overs, write movies and songs. And I counsel kids on drug abuse. It`s enough to keep five people busy, but I`ve always been schizophrenic.
The last good movie I saw was: ”Hear Me Sing,” with Ned Beatty.
I stay home to watch: Myself and CNN-real stuff like the William
(Kennedy) Smith trial and the Clarence (Thomas) and Anita (Hill) show get me-and everything else. I`m pretty undiscerning. I read every book and magazine and see every movie. I love to soak up popular culture.
The book I`ve been reading is: ”Force Majeure,” by Bruce Wagner.
Favorite pigout food: Fish and chips.
Nickname: ”Hey, you, in the crushed velvet.”
Favorite performer: Elvis. When I was growing up, he epitomized America to me. Rebellion, teenage anarchy, the blues. That`s what I fell in love with. Favorite memory: I gave my son a computer a couple of days ago. It was very expensive, and it didn`t have a warranty, and when we got it home, it didn`t work. I freaked out, and my son treated me with such compassion.
Prized possession: My 60-inch Mitsubishi.
Personal heroes: John Barrymore, Oscar Wilde, Monty Clift, Winston Churchill, Salvador Dali, Keith Richards and Marilyn. In some esoteric way, they`re all connected.
Every New Year`s I resolve: To get in touch with my higher self.
My fantasy is: I`m a combination of Louis B. Mayer and Errol Flynn so I can produce and star in my own movies.
Three words that best describe me: Impatient, driven, excessive.
