In response to Barbara Brotman`s comments about her dead raccoon coat, Ms. Brotman can wrap herself from head to toe in furry carcasses, but they will not help alleviate her ingrained cold-heartedness. Perhaps she should stop thinking so much about her own comfort and start thinking about the people who do not have the chance to escape from the cold Chicago winter. The money she spent on her fur coat could have been far better spent on helping people less fortunate than herself.
Whenever my fiance and I offer food and blankets to people living on the street or in unheated garages, we feel a warmth that no fur coat can accomplish. We urge Ms. Brotman to try showing some compassion for other living beings, be they animal or human. Maybe then some of that cold-heartedness will melt away and she will feel better about herself.
