Decline in jobless filings: Claims for unemployment insurance recorded a second consecutive national weekly decline, as 437,000 Americans made first-time requests in the week ending Feb. 1, the Labor Department said
Thursday. The number of Americans filing initial claims for jobless benefits dropped by 13,000 from the previous week. The decline was something of a surprise to economists, who had been looking for a small increase.
