Illinois taxpayers have a unique opportunity to help homeless persons. When Illinois tax forms are filed, a person can check off the Homeless Assistance Fund and contribute their tax refund or additional funds to alleviate homelessness across the state.

At the same time taxpayers may be asking the question, ”Is the money being wisely spent?” Last year the fund raised $280,000. Every penny is being spent to provide affordable housing throughout Illinois.

Homeless persons are not helpless. A few dollars from many taxpayers can make a big difference.
