The Village Board has voted to support the park district`s request for a bond issue to improve Busch Grove Community Park under a $14 million comprehensive plan.

The park referendum initiative on March 17 will ask for an 18-cent increase in the tax for the recreation fund, now 7.5 cents per $100 assessed valuation.

Of the 18 cents, 15 cents would go to the development and construction of a community center and related facilities, and 3 cents would be used for its maintenance and operation.

The park district envisions a community center with a teen room, field house, indoor track and field and fitness center. It also wants to build on the 76 acres of park land an outdoor swimming pool, four lighted baseball fields and two lighted basketball courts, four tennis courts, a jogging trail and a picnic area.
