Six of the eight Republican candidates for Du Page County circuit judge have been rated ”highly recommended” by the Du Page County Bar Association`s Judiciary Committee.

The two exceptions were Associate Judge Robert Cox, who was given the lesser rating of ”recommended,” and Terese Fawell, a Wheaton lawyer, who was rated ”not presently recommended.”

The eight candidates are running in the Republican primary election for five positions as circuit judge. There are no candidates for judge on the Democratic primary ballot.

Rated ”highly recommended” were Circuit Judge Robert E. Byrne, who is running against Cox for one of the five positions; Circuit Judge Peter Dockery and Wheaton lawyer S. Louis Rathje, who are on the ballot with Fawell in a three-way contest for another of the positions; and Circuit Judges Robert K. Kilander, Ronald B. Mehling and Bonnie M. Wheaton, who are running unopposed for three positions.
