Dairyland Greyhound Park is scheduled to resume racing with a day-night double-header Wednesday after postponing Tuesday night`s card to complete rebuilding of the track`s racing surface.
The grading of the surface, measuring a quarter-mile in circumference, was changed because dogs were having traction problems racing into the clubhouse turn. Kennel operators blamed those difficulties for a recent increase in injuries.
The project began after Sunday`s races and continued on Monday, the track`s dark day, and Tuesday. It entailed peeling the surface layer by layer and removing heating coils, then reinstalling the coils and putting in the newly graded surface.
