Being a May graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago, I feel qualified to comment on your series ”Degrees of neglect.” Many of the problems described ring true. Yet, personally, I was not neglected because I would not let myself be neglected.
I graduated with a respectable grade-point average and knew the majority of my professors in my major. By not attending classes for whatever reason, a low grade is guaranteed. In order to be successful in school or life, I feel you have to show up and participate.
