During recent weeks, I had been working on temporary assignment at a new office in Oakbrook Terrace. Since my hotel room was a short walk from the office, I thought I could easily walk to work. Unfortunately, there are no sidewalks or crosswalks in this area (22nd Street at Hwy. 83).
It appears that this so-called ”affluent city” can`t afford sidewalks. One has to either brave the traffic by walking alongside fast moving vehicles or go trudging through grass and gravel on the shoulder of the road.
