World Breastfeeding Week, which runs through Friday, is endorsed by 27 non-governmental organizations worldwide. International coordinator Laura J. Best in New York says one goal of the program is to increase societal support for women who decide to breastfeed. ”People know of the benefits of breastfeeding and this campaign is about what we can do as individuals, organizations and a society,” says Best, such as creating better child-care programs in the workplace.
