In his article of July 26, John Kass made some inaccurate generalizations about school reform groups. Parents United for Responsible Education (PURE) is one of those groups which had a member on the interim school board and is, by implication, one of those groups Mr. Kass accuses of wanting more school money for our training program. He also states that parents are the only ones without a voice.
PURE has never charged anyone for our training. Much of our training is done by parent volunteers; our part-time staff members receive an hourly salary when money is available. Ninety percent of PURE`s 300 paid members are parents; our role has always been to present the parent`s point of view in the critical school reform issues.
