I was sorry to hear of the passing of the renowned jazz musician and band leader ”Jay” Joseph Burkhart on Aug 2. His band was known as the Chicago Jazz-Cradle and was responsible for the be-bop craze that swept Chicago in the `40s and `50s.

I grew up during that era and danced many nights away to his unforgettable music. His music library will always be remembered by all who had the pleasure of hearing it.
