Village officials have approved a new completion date for downtown commuter parking lots.

The commuter lots are now expected to be completed by Dec. 30, rather then the original date of Sept. 1. The delay is attributed to negotiations involving the village and the Illinois Department of Transportation, which provides the bulk of financing for the project.

The parking lots are tied into the village`s renovation plans for the St. Charles Road business district that included a new railroad viaduct over Main Street.
