A Northwest Side bank was robbed of more than $6,000 Tuesday by a man who handed a teller a note demanding money, police said.

The robber entered Avondale Federal Savings Bank, 2965 N. Milwaukee Ave., about 3:10 p.m. and gave a teller a note announcing a holdup, said Grand Central District Officer Marv Streske.

The robber placed $6,709 into a brown paper bag and then fled north on Monticello Avenue, Streske said.
