The Dixieland band was playing the Ross Perot theme song-“Crazy”-when we walked into Dick’s Last Resort for its annual Mardi Gras party on Fat Tuesday. But we discovered that most of the revelers jammed into the North Pier restaurant had eschewed a wacky approach to their Mardi Gras dress. Just about everybody was in street clothes.

So when partygoer James Kuhn entered the room, all eyes were on him, er, her. In the best Mardi Gras tradition, Kuhn sported a wonderfully vulgar drag ensemble that included hyper-bosoms.

“It’s the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini,” said Kuhn. “You know, the song from the ’60s.”

Nostalgia, we thought, ain’t what it used to be.
