As a precautionary measure, Itasca Park District officials have agreed to spend $95,000 to remodel Clayson Park, which has several pieces of playground equipment that are as much as 18 years old.

Park district director Randy Schawel said the 2.3-acre park, at Maple Street and Theodore Lane, will be ready for the eight-week revamping project by the end of June.

Two new play areas will be equipped with larger slides, decks, swings and sand-filled grounds.
