No fare hike: Northwest Airlines Thursday withdrew its 5 percent increase on leisure fares after the rest of the airline industry refused to go along with it. Northwest and other carriers also are giving leisure travelers extra days to buy tickets with discounts of as much as 40 percent. The discounts are good on tickets bought at least 14 days in advance and require a Saturday night stay. Travelers have until Monday to buy the tickets and have to finish their travel by June 30.
