A 46-year-old Schaumburg man has been charged with felony criminal damage to property after the woman whose car he allegedly damaged caught him on videotape, police said. Richard P. Robek, 196 E. Grovenor Drive, faces an April 22 court date. His bond was set at $5,000. Police said that earlier this week, the woman showed officers videotape, which she had taken on two occasions with a camcorder set up in her bedroom, that captured a man scratching the paint on her car. Tactical officers then stationed themselves near her house on the 100 block of Kingsport Drive about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Soon after, they saw a man dressed in the same clothes as the man they had seen on the videotape. He approached the woman’s car and scratched the passenger side, police said. The officers arrested Robek and recovered two nails with white paint on them from his coat pocket.
