Q. I am not a good kisser, and I’ve heard that women love good kissers in bed instead of just love machines. Is this true, and what makes a good kisser?
A. Some individuals feel that kissing is the most intimate behavior. In fact, a 1983 study involving a large number of American couples found that when individuals within a couple felt more distant or removed from each other or were feeling high levels of tension about relationship issues like work or money, less kissing occurred when they were having sex.
Not every woman likes every type of kiss-so being viewed as a good kisser is likely to vary from partner to partner. When a partner complains about your kissing, you can playfully suggest that you practice kissing in a way that will give you both pleasure. Don’t be afraid to ask her what she prefers. You cannot read a partner’s mind about sexual likes and dislikes.
A book you might find both amusing and interesting on this topic is William Cane’s, “The Art of Kissing” (St. Martin’s).
