Twenty-four dealers of original posters will convene in Chicago for the first time in an “International Vintage Poster Fair” Saturday and Sunday in Hillebrand Auditorium of the American Dental Association, 211 E. Chicago Ave.
More than 10,000 posters from dealers in England, France, Switzerland, Belgium and the U.S. will be offered for sale, with prices ranging from $50 to $75,000.
The show will represent all categories of European and American posters from the 1890s through the 1980s.
Admission is $20 for an early buying session beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday; $7.50 for general admission 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday; and $12 for a two-day pass.

– Italian art historian Salvatore Settis has become director of the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities in Santa Monica, Calif., replacing founding director Kurt Forster, who has assumed a chair in the history of art and architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Settis will arrive at the Center in January.
– Four Chicago arts institutions have received challenge grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. They are the Art Institute of Chicago ($235,000); Ebony Talent Associates Creative Arts Foundation ($235,000); the Museum of Contemporary Art ($175,000); and Sculpture Chicago ($200,000). Each dollar given must be matched by the recipient with at least $3 in private money.
– Crutch Shanon and Tommy Eddy will present new solo performance pieces that explore issues of gender relations at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Gallery 2, 1040 W. Huron St. Admission is free.
– Performance artist Susan Abelson will present a new work, “Alone of Your Sex,” a piece that examines society’s view of pregnant women, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Randolph Street Gallery, 756 N. Milwaukee Ave. Admission is $7, $5 for students.
– Anchor Graphics will hold a benefit auction from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the World Tattoo Gallery, 1255 S. Wabash St. Works by Karl Wirsum, Richard Hull, David Russick and Tony Fitzpatrick will be among the prints offered. Proceeeds will go toward the expansion of free course offerings at the workshop. – The Chicago Artists’ Coalition and Rosary College will present the 10th annual Business of Art Conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Lewis Hall at the college, 7900 W. Division St., River Forest. Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Call 312-670-2060 to register.
