Clinton has appointed Gore to head a commission to study governmental and bureaucratic waste and recommend changes. This, like many other governmental commissions is totally unnecessary. The work has already been done, and done expertly, by the Grace Commission.
We never hear about the Grace Commission today. It was formed in 1984 by Reagan, to study and recommend ways to reduce governmental and bureaucratic waste.
The Grace Commission Report, which recommended specific changes to save 424 billion wasted dollars, has languished unread and unused. Congress would never look at or implement it. It would infringe on congressional pork, perks and votes.
Today we need to see and implement the Grace Commission Report. At today’s rate of ballooning government spending, the $424 billion saving would be more like $800 billion.
The people must put the heat on their Congress to resurrect and act on the findings of the Grace Commission, not on a new, unnecessary Gore commission.
