Deerfield, Dist. 113
– Deerfield High School’s audio-visual director, Lou Adler, will retire at the end of the school year after 30 years to become an educational technology consultant.
– German and English teacher Bill Schildgen, who has been with the district for 27 years, will retire at the end of the school year.
Lake Forest, Dist. 115
– A $1,000 scholarship is being offered to graduating seniors of Lake Forest High School by the Lake Forest Woman’s Club in memory of its past president Marjorie Leason.
Lincolnshire, Dist. 125
– A silver certificate was awarded last month to Stevenson High School’s student newspaper, The Statesman, by the Northern Illinois Student Press Association.
Prairie View, Dist. 103
– A citizens’ advisory committee that is studying the use of district facilities has recommended adding four to six classrooms to Half Day School and adding a gym to Wright Middle School. The committee also recommended that more land be acquired near Half Day School.
Mundelein, Dist. 120
– The district has saved $73,421 during the last six years by purchasing natural gas through its membership in a co-op, district officials said. The co-op has 47 members including schools and park districts.
– Mark W. Shepard will begin his duties as director of business operations at the district July 1. He will replace John Schockmel, who is retiring June 30.
– Guidance counselor Sue Butler was recently named president-elect of the Lake County Counselors Association, a local chapter of the Illinois Counseling Association.
Special Ed., Dist. 825
– The district has developed a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan for the 1993-94 academic year. The plan includes strategies to deal with bomb threats, bus accidents, campus disturbances, fallen aircraft, weather emergencies and hostage situations.
Stevenson, Dist. 125
– School officials may hire a third social worker for the district. Officials said the additional social worker will develop programs aimed at getting parents more involved in problem-solving.
