Flight restrictions: United Airlines Tuesday said that effective July 1 it will prohibit the use of portable electronic devices, such as laptop computers and compact disc players, on its aircraft during takeoffs and landings. Chicago-based United said it wants to guarantee that such devices won’t cause interference with cockpit navigation or communications systems.
