The Palos Hills City Council has approved a 1993 tax levy of $1,028,000 for taxes payable in 1994. The 1992 levy was $995,000, said Mayor Gerald Bennett.
The village’s current tax rate is 52 cents per $100 of equalized assessed valuation, he said. The tax rate should drop a few cents because property in Palos Township is being reassessed, Bennett said. Although the city is seeking a higher tax levy, residents should see a lower tax rate because of a higher equalized assessed valuation for their property, Bennett said.
The city’s current total equalized assessed valuation is $178 million, he said.
