The village fee structure for coin-operated amusements has been changed to reflect unexpected growth.
Under an ordinance approved last week, owners will be taxed $150 for the first 10 machines and $50 for each additional game. The old ordinance had a cap of $10,000 for the first 65 machines and $5 for every additional game.
The 4-year-old ordinance was approved in response to Enchanted Castle, 1103 S. Main St.
“The cap was set because that’s how many machines Enchanted Castle had when it opened,”said Fire Chief G. Edward Seagraves, who heads the Bureau of Inspectional Services.
Enchanted Castle now operates 215 machines and pays $10,480 in taxes to the village. The new structure will cost it about $1,300 more in taxes.
