Mike Macfarlane’s second homer in two games backed Tom Gordon’s five-hit pitching and carried Kansas City past Seattle, which got a club-record 33rd homer from Ken Griffey Jr.

Gordon (7-3) won his sixth game in eight decisions, walking three and striking out a season-high eight in seven innings. Mark Gubicza pitched the last two innings for his second save.

Dave Fleming (7-2) gave up four runs and eight hits and lost for the first time since June 7, covering 11 starts.
