– Baxter Homes was honored with six awards at the 1993 Lake County Tour of Homes as the Primrose model at Country Lane at Wadsworth Lake took first place in all of the categories in its price class.
The 1,905-square-foot Primrose is one of six home designs available at the new community of 126 detached single-family homes being developed in Victorian style by Chicago-based Baxter Homes Corp. near north suburban Wadsworth.
Forty-four builders participated in the annual event, sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Lake County (HBALC), with 49 entries in nine categories, from multifamily and affordable homes to estates priced at more than $1 million.
In the category of “Single Family Homes, under $175,000,” the Primrose surpassed six other entrants to claim awards for Best Exterior Architecture, Best Interior Architecture, Best Overall Landscaping, Best Interior Merchandising, Best Kitchen and Best Master Suite.
The awards are meaningful because they are voted on by people in the home building industry who are “looking behind the decor into the craft of the community itself,” said Andy Warner, director of sales and marketing for Baxter.
