Oakbrook Terrace now stands to make a nice profit on the sale of two police motorcycles originally thought to be used equipment that would bring a small price.
Motorcycle dealers told Police Chief Michael Toomey that the 5-year-old Harley-Davidson motorcycles the city plans to replace are probably worth more than the $15,000 the city initially paid for them.
Bids for the motorcycles will be solicited soon and the sale proceeds will go to the city’s tourism promotion fund.
