Tempers flared Tuesday as Village Board members voted to spend $7,200 on computer equipment, which one trustee called a “Band-Aid” for the village’s antiquated computer system.

Trustee Gary Winchester criticized the Village Board for turning down a comprehensive $400,000 computer system last month. Winchester said the board has been delaying a decision on a new computer system for two years, which has cost the village money.

Trustee Karen Demos-Rosenthal told Winchester that the $400,000 price for the comprehensive computer system was too high. Trustees voted 5-1 to buy the $7,200 computer, which was needed because of changes in sewer and water billing.
