Sox shortstop Ozzie Guillen spent the off day at the American League playoffs figuring out how to solve the Chicago school crisis.

He’s got it figured out: Just let Sox slugger Frank Thomas close the deal on a $44-million, six-year contract he reportedly is about to sign.

“Just wait two more weeks, and Mayor Daley can take enough taxes out of Frank’s contract to open all the schools,” said Guillen. “The schools will be open, the expressways will be smooth. Just wait.”
