– A story on Monday’s Page 1 used an incorrect time period for statistics on a surge in firearm homicides. It should have stated that between 1987 and 1992, gun homicides of children under 15 increased by 81 percent nationally. Also during 1987-92, murder victims in the 15 to 19 age group increased 128 percent nationwide, according to the FBI.
– In a story Saturday, the names of gang-related shooting victims Efrain Alvarado, 12, and Charles Mays, 13, were misspelled.
– A Saturday obituary for Dr. Walter L. Palmer contained an incorrect date for the memorial service. A corrected obituary appears Tuesday.
– In an Oct. 21 Tempo section story on Chicago’s consular corps, a group addressed by former West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt was incorrectly identified. It was the Executives’ Club of Chicago.
