The stork arrived in a red-and-white Gurnee Fire Department ambulance Wednesday morning for Edith and Jorge Silva.

Edith Silva delivered the couple’s daughter, Kelly, just after noon Wednesday while inside the ambulance parked near the Silvas’ apartment building, on the 4000 block of Greenleaf Ct., Fire Chief Tim McGrath said.

Edith Silva apparently went into labor and the couple called for help at 11:56 a.m., McGrath said. Gurnee paramedics Tim Tanner, Bob Heraver and Andy Diverde responded and found the baby’s head beginning to emerge.

Kelly weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces and is the couple’s third child, McGrath said. Edith Silva was in good condition Thursday at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan.
