A 27-year-old Geneva man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal a $10 flashlight at a St. Charles hardware store, police said. Douglas D. Bauer, 810 N. Bennet St., was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 300 block of North Randall Road. Bauer was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear Dec. 9 in Kane County Circuit Court.
