Wolf Road homeowners don’t have to worry about their neighborhood losing its homey flavor.
An amendment to Mokena’s comprehensive plan adopted by the Village Board this week aims to “maintain the residential character” of the roadway, development director Alan Zordan said.
Sections of Wolf Road that are commercial will stay that way, he said. Zoning changes will have to be requested by land owners and will be approved only if their impact on residential neighborhoods is minor.
The amendment also included up-to-date tax maps and property descriptions.
The board also approved an amendment to the zoning ordinance setting lower population density limits for multifamily housing developments. The new net limit of 7.5 dwelling units per acre will result in more “green space” in multifamily developments, Zordan said.
In other business, the board awarded a $120,600 contract to Water Resources Inc. for plumbing changes and water meter replacement at the Pheasant Ridge condominiums.
The project will allow Water Department employees access to the meters for repairs and shutoffs, public works director Craig Heim said.
