Switzerland issued four Pro Juventute semi-postal stamps Tuesday to raise funds for charity and make children aware of dangers to the environment.
The designs feature woodland plants as part of the ongoing “Woods Part of the Child’s World” series of semi-postals inaugurated in 1991. Woodland plants were selected as the Pro Juventute theme “to help increase the awareness of the crucial importance of our endangered woodlands for life on earth,” the Swiss Post said.
The stamps depict a Christmas wreath, 60+30 centimes, a fern, 60+30 centimes, a guelder rose, 80+40 centimes and leafy moss, 100+50 centimes. In addition to teaching youngsters about woodland plants, the stamps benefit the Pro Juventute Foundation, an organizaton that helps young people.
