Louis Menchetti, 85, a retired design engineer, died Sunday in La Grange Memorial Hospital, La Grange. Mr. Menchetti retired from International Harvester after 45 years of service. A 41-year resident of Berwyn, he served as 2nd Ward committeeman for the Berwyn Democratic Party for 20 years. Mr. Menchetti also was a scout for the Chicago White Sox, a Little League instructor, a coach of the Midwest Baseball League, and a coach of the Olympic Savings semi-pro baseball team, which captured the state championship in 1979. He is survived by a son, Lawrence; a daughter, Marianne Cieply; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Adolf-Berwyn Funeral Home, 2921 S. Harlem Ave., Berwyn. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Leonard Catholic Church, 3340 Clarence Ave., Berwyn.
